House of the Sonoran Sunrise / Front-Clasping Y-Necklace

House of the Sonoran Sunrise / Front-Clasping Y-Necklace

When lapidary artist Corey Beer of By the Beers Lapidary told me that my work inspired him to cut a pair of stones, I was honored; when I saw that it was--two halves of a torn "Sonoran Sunriset" hexagon, I was BLOWN AWAY! I usually let stones marinate for a while, but I was so inspired by this set that I dreamt up this necklace right away.

This one-of-a-kind creation features that set of Sonoran Sunrise--composed mostly of of red cuprite and black hematite--half-bezel and half-prong set on top of an extended backplate that sits on top of an elevated, open, hollow base. From inside the base, emerge the jump rings and hooks that comprise the first front clasp. All of this hangs via beaded chain links from a smaller, 3-D, torn hexagon of textured silver that has its own hook and ring clasp. Finished with more handmade beaded chain and selective black patina, this necklace is a crazy, bold, beautiful work of collaborative wearable art unlike anything you've ever seen! I hope ;)
